Biography
Though originally from Canada, Autumn Grieve has spent much of her life travelling and living within various other countries and cultures. During the mid to late nineties she lived in Belfast , Northern Ireland where she co-founded the eclectic-indie-folk band Resin. Following the dissolution of that project she relocated to the US (Memphis and New York) and in the summer of 2001 released her debut solo EP ‘Another Window’. Orchestrated with guitar, piano, vocals, cello and viola and recorded with and featuring members of the legendary Louisville collective Rachel’s , Another Window sold out of its first pressing within weeks of its release and received an impressive critical response. Described as ‘ethereal folk with a classical sensibility,’ these songs with their spare yet intense orchestrations are both soothing and thought provoking, and by her own admittance are intended to embody a healing energy.
Now, in the spring of 2007, her second EP entitled 'Terra Infinita' has been released with Irish indie label Rusted Rail, featuring orchestrations by Irish composer Scott McLaughlin and performances by Deserted Villagers Dave Colohan and Sean Og. Autumn also contributes harmonies to the upcoming Agitated Radio Pilot cd 'World Winding Down', as well as appearing on an upcoming A Lords release and the next Owl Service cd, all due for release in the summer of 2007.
New recordings are currently underway amid the lush greenery and salt-sea air of Dorset, England. The next release, a collection of songs in field-recording style, are a collaboration with Plinth's Michael Tanner, and are the completely unadorned, stark capturings of a moment in a wooden-floored, amber-lit sitting room with a parlour guitar, clarinet and piano.
